About Me

My name is Samantha Wojciechowicz but I go by Samantha Woj in my art practice. I am a physically disabled Canadian visual artist. I was born with a rare genetic disorder called Ectrodactyly, a condition characterized by the absence or malformation of the fingers and toes. In 2021, I received an MA in Creative Art Therapies, Art Therapy option. In 2019, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. These degrees helped me gain a greater understanding of both the material chosen and physical process involved in creating an artwork.

My creative process is influenced by my love of sports. For over 14 years, sports provided me with a place to go and develop my social skills. It also provided me with an outlet to express myself, build confidence and challenge my abilities. Summer 2021, I decided to channel my love for sports into my other love, art.

The painting process involves using acrylic paint on paper, cardboard or canvas. Initial marks are made using sports equipment. These marks are made to illustrate athlete’ movement, their feelings and the sport itself. Imprints are made from throwing, rolling and tapping the sports equipment on a canvas. These marks embody the active and fleeting movement that occur in sports and captures and holds a space to reflect the unseen marks made in those moments. In turn, imprinting these moments to be immortalized and reflected upon and embody the sense of community and love one can experienced either by playing or watching sports.

In 2025, I collaborated with the CFL on a painting to celebrate the Grey Cup and Rawlings Canada in a giveaway with a baseball artwork. I participated in the WNBA Toronto Tempo Art x Basketball talk. I collaborated with Oakland Roots SC to celebrate Disability Pride Month and worked with the Oklahoma City Thunder on an 8ft x 8ft mural commemorating their season. I also created a live art at the NBO Toronto tournament, Golf Town’s Ladies Night event and Champlain College during CCAA Men's Championship. I have partnered with organizations including Laura Stacey’s LS7, the Capital City Condors, ABLE2, and the Ottawa Senators Foundation, helping raise over $6,000 to support various community initiatives. Additionally, I created a five-piece series with Puma Cobra Golf, including a live painting at the Scottsdale Arizona golf course. I created a Super Bowl artwork with NFL Canada to honour Canadian athlete Sydney Brown. In 2024, I completed ten live paintings, including collaborations with NFL Canada, Miracle League Sioux City, Paralympic Games, Golf Canada, CF Montreal, PWHL, and others. These events raised significant funds, such as $6,500 for Miracle League and $2,100 for McMaster Children’s Hospital. Notable projects included creating a mural for NFL Canada at their Super Bowl event, and live painting at major sports events like the RBC Canadian Open and BMO Women's Soccer Week. I also collaborated with the Ottawa Senators to create six paintings for their Throwback Thursday Games. The first 10,000 fans received a poster version of one of the paintings. In 2023, I partnered with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Los Angeles Kings, raising funds through auctions. In 2022, I painted at the CCAA Women’s Soccer Championship and worked with organizations like the Calgary Special Olympics and CANFund, raising money for both athletes and charities.
